New Year. New departure point. New breakfast venue
Our first group ride-out of 2026 will be led by Patrick Ryan & tail-ended by John Hawkins, who will be taking a maximum of 8 riders to a popular (albeit out-of-the-way) Northamptonshire farm kitchen. Here’s their description of the route:
Setting out from Shell Godmanchester, ride leader Patrick Ryan & tail-ender by John Hawkins first head west, crossing the A1 at Buckden to travel on the biker-friendly B661, B645 and B660 and then loop north to Polebrook. Turning east they then circle the Ashton Estate and make a short onwards hop on to breakfast (menu here) at Rectory Farm Kitchen, a mile from Warmington village. The outward leg is 33 miles
After breakfast the ride first heads north, passing through Fotheringhay (blink and you’ll miss it, but in earlier times a village of royal intrigues and executions) and Wansford. They keep to the west of the A1 as they head south to Glatton, then cross to the eastern side as they make their way through the Riptons and the end of the ride at Huntingdon Retail Park (located just off the A141). The return leg is 32 miles
