DISTANCE – Approximately 73 miles
Description:
The ride starts and ends at Brampton services on the A1. We begin with a short ride up the A1 before turning off at Alconbury Weston. Once on the smaller roads we travel though the villages of Hammerton, Winwick, Great Gidding and into Northamptonshire via Warmington. We pass through Fotheringhay, where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned and later executed, and Glapthorn before taking on the somewhat legendary Benefield Bends. After tacking these amazing bends, we head to Brigstock and Slipton, before arriving at our destination of the Buttery at Woodford.
There is no requirement to order food in advance, but if you like to view the menu it can be found here… https://irp.cdn-website.com/5cdca1c9/files/uploaded/The+Buttery+-+Sunday+Menu.pdf
Our return journey sees us heading to Great Addington and Ringstead, with a ride around the outskirt of Raunds on the B663. We then head into Bedfordshire passing through Chelveston, Caldecott, Newton Bromswold, Yelden, Riseley and Staughton Green. Shortly after passing through these lovely villages, we will go past our Chief Observers favourite pub stop of ‘The Wheatsheaf’ at Perry. Circling around Grafham Water we head towards Brampton on some single-track roads ready for a short blast down the A14 and back to Brampton Services.
