The ride will depart promptly at 9:00am from the Huntingdon Retail Park, just off the Huntingdon Road, near the roundabout with the A141 (meeting point will be in the carpark in front of Costa Coffee – ///fixed.gymnasium.elaborate).
The first leg of the journey is just shy of 50 miles (1hr 20mins), and will see us heading initially north through Abbots Ripton, then turning west to pass through Alconbury Weston, Clopton, Corby & Thorpe Langton before reaching our breakfast stop at the Greenhouse Café, located inside the Langton Greenhouse & Garden Centre (breakfast menu here).
Suitably re-fueled, we’ll continue on westwards through Shearsby & Claybrooke Magna, then turn north to Stoney Stanton, Ibstock & Coalville, before reaching our lunch stop at the George & Dragon in Thringstone, a mere 45 miles (1hr 20mins) after our initial stop. The extensive menu, which is bound to offer something for every taste: menu here. Immediately before reaching our lunch stop there will be a re-fuelling stop, if necessary, for those riding thirsty bikes.
Our return trip will take us initially further north towards Donington Park & East Midlands Airport, before we head for home in an easterly direction, through Long Whatton, Melton Mowbray (sorry, no stopping to buy pork pies!!) and Wymondham. Then it’s a right turn towards Oakham, where, after 50 miles (1hr 30mins), we’ll make our final stop of the day for coffee & cakes at a Costa Coffee (a McDonalds is next door for those who prefer that option).
Our final leg will be a 60-mile (1hr 50mins) stint through Uppingham, then under the spectacular Welland Viaduct, on to Oundle, Old Weston, Kimbolton and St. Neots, before arriving at our destination Caxton Gibbet, where we can expect to arrive prior to 6:30pm. Total distance will be around 200 miles, with a total on-the-road time of just about 6 hours. Participants should arrive at the departure point no later than 8:50am for the pre-ride briefing, with their bikes fully fueled.
This ride is open to full Members only, and is limited to 8 bikes. Pillions are welcome
