With clear blue skies in prospect, things are lining up for the perfect rideout! Graham Maile & John Hawkins take lead & tail positions this Sunday 17th August as they head to the Corner Café in Sible Hedingham. Here’s their plan for the outing –
From Cambridge we head towards Balsham, where a turn south takes us up to, and across, the A1307. We pass through Bartlow & Great Sampford, to pick up the twisting B1051 to Thaxted. A left turn leaving Thaxted takes us onto a series of unclassified & B-roads to Finchingfield, where we cross the river to take the B1053 towards Wethersfield and on to Sible Hedingham for our breakfast stop at the Corner Café – TripAdvisor – reviews & menu
After breakfast we head north, passing through Great Yeldham to Clare before branching off to Kedington to pick up the B1061, which takes us across the A143 and through the Thurlows & Burrough Green and then on to Dullingham. Continuing northwest we cross both the A1340 & A1303, finishing in the recreation ground car park on the outskirts of Swaffham Bulbeck (situated just off the B1102 – the road linking Swaffham Bulbeck to Cambridge)
This ride is ~67 miles in total. Please note that the carpark at the rear of the café is fairly small, and it may be necessary for some riders to park on the road out front
