SUMMARY:All-day ride to Hunstanton
DESCRIPTION:This ride is led by Keith Tremeer and tail-ended by Barry D. \nOur start point will be the carpark at Tesco\, Milton\, from where we’ll head NE through Swaffham Prior\, Burwell and Fordham\, before turning north through Isleham and Prickwillow (your bike’s suspension will get a good workout on the road between Isleham and Prickwillow)\, then to Downham Market\, where\, after about an hour on the road\, we’ll make a brief (30-45 minutes) stop at the Costa Coffee for some refreshments. Then it’ll be on to Swaffham\, Castle Acre\, Great Massingham and Docking\, before joining the main A149 into Hunstanton\, arriving there about an hour after leaving our refreshment stop. \nThere are several fish & chip restaurants within easy walking distance from the seafront\, and depending on the weather\, we can choose to have take-aways and gather on the grass area near the bandstand to eat. Alternatively\, for those that prefer the comfort of air-conditioned indoor dining\, a good choice would be Henry’s (my personal favourite – I receive no commission for that indication!!)  There are also numerous ice cream parlours nearby\, so we can have a truly indulgent day at the beach. For those who wish to dip a toe (or more) in the sea\, please feel free (towels are not provided). \nWe’ll aim to head back at around 13:30\, initially passing through the Sandringham estate\, then Narborough and on to Downham Market\, where\, after an hour on the road\, we’ll make our final refreshment stop at the same place as on the way out. Thereafter\, the final stretch of our route home will take us through Friday Bridge and March\, where we’ll pick up the A141\, which will take us all the way to the Riverside carpark in Huntingdon\, where the ride will end. \nTotal distance will be around 160 miles\, divided roughly equally between the out and return routes\, with a total on-the-road time of just less than 4h30mins. It is estimated that we’ll arrive back in Huntingdon at between 16:30 and 17:00 \nFor those of you for whom the 160 miles will be “pushing it” for your bike’s range\, a re-fueling stop is planned just after leaving Hunstanton. \nPlease arrive at Tesco\, Milton carpark (W3W: ///goad.thin.lift) no later than 08:45 with your bike duly fueled\, for the pre-ride briefing. Departure time is 09:00. \nThis ride is open to Members and Associates\, and is limited to 12 participants (including ride leader and tailer\, and pillions). \nBookings available soon via Ticket Tailor \n
