SUMMARY:Group organised Sunday ride
DESCRIPTION:This ride will be led by Mark Fox and tailed by Barry D \nThe ride commences from the McDonalds car park at Caxton Gibbet. We take the back roads to St. Neots and then travel on to Eaton Socon\, where we pick up one of my favourite local roads and run across via Bushmead to the B660. We take a relatively uninteresting section of the B660 to Kimbolton & then the more interesting section north to Old Weston. We then head up through Clopton and via a short blast up the A605 to the Barn Garden Centre\, just south of Oundle\, for breakfast at The Boxwood Café \nAfter breakfast we head through Barnwell and across to Winwick. Continuing across country\, we cross the A1 & head south through Abbots Ripton and on to St. Ives. We then head through Conington and Knapwell to BP Childerley Gate where the ride ends \nThe ride total 74 miles – with plenty of “progressive” roads you should be back well in time for your Sunday lunch\nDue to space constraints at the breakfast stop\, the ride is limited to a total of 12 participants \nDepart               McDonalds\, Ermine Street\, Caxton Gibbet CB23 3PE     what3words\nBreakfast          The Boxwood Café\, Oundle PE8 5PB     what3words\nEnd                     BP Childerley Gate\, Cambridge CB23 8AY   what3words \n

SUMMARY:A presentation from Helite airbags
DESCRIPTION:We are very pleased to welcome Peter Riley from Helite UK\, the premier manufacturer of motorcycle airbags who will join us at Over Community Centre to offer Members & Associates a presentation on his company’s products. The evening starts at 7:30pm \nHelite was founded in 2002 in Dijon\, France by Gérard Thévenot\, an engineer specialising in fluid mechanics and a passionate fan of light aeronautics. Thévenot wanted to create personal protective equipment for high-risk sports by offering airbags adapted to the needs of motorcyclists\, horse riders & cyclists. The high accident rate in these pursuits led to the first patent for personal protection airbags. \nWe will learn in detail about how the airbag system works\, which parts of your body are protected\, how long it takes to inflate and what it is like to ride with an airbag. There will also be guidance on choosing the most appropriate model from the range. \nWe’ve allowed time for a Q&A session – so please come armed with your questions! If you already own a motorcycle airbag\, please do consider attending so you can share your experience with your fellow CAM members. \nYou are welcome to bring guests – please assist with the room booking and seating arrangements by emailing us at events@cambsiam.org.uk if you plan on attending!

SUMMARY:Sunday ride to the Woodman Inn
DESCRIPTION:This ride will be led by Phil Duffy and tail-ended by Paul Norman \nThe ride starts at Tesco Royston. We head north along the A1198 at first\, before turning left just before the Arrington roundabout onto fairly fast minor roads taking us through a few villages. Eventually reaching Potton\, we turn south to Edworth & Ashwell and continue south\, crossing the A505 at Slip End and joining the A507 at Rushden. We follow the A507 to Buntingford\, where we cross the A10 and join the old Cambridge coaching road at Hare Street. Heading north to Barkway\, we then turn right to Nuthampstead and our breakfast stop at the The Woodman Inn. \nUsed now only by light aircraft\, during WWII Nuthampstead Airfield was home to B-17 Flying Fortresses used in missions over occupied Europe. This is commemorated on a memorial stone outside The Woodman\, and in a museum behind its car park. \nAfter breakfast\, we head south on a twisty road to Anstey\, then on to Great Hormead. Then we head east through Furneux Pelham and Manuden\, crossing the M11 near Newport\, before turning back west at Wendens Ambo\, then following the “road of doom” back to Barley. We re-join the coaching road there and head north to Trumpington P&R where the ride ends. \nDepart                  Tesco Extra\, Royston SG8 5UA    what3words\nBreakfast             The Woodman Inn\, Nuthampstead SG8 8NB     what3words\nEnd                       Trumpington Park & Ride\, Cambridge CB2 9FT     what3words \nRiders must arrive fully fuelled & in time for the 9:20am briefing\nLimited to 12 participants in total.Click hereto request a place
