In this exclusive club presentation Simon Weir will reveal secrets from his 15 years as a motorcycle journalist & test rider – both what that job entails and where it goes wrong! Simon will also share his experience gained motorcycling on four continents, both professionally and for personal pleasure

Maintenance Day: the ideal opportunity to refresh your knowledge of – or gain invaluable insight into – a selection of basic maintenance tasks for your bike. Demonstrations by some of our club’s most experienced members look into maintaining your chain, electrics & brakes, and how to adjust and personalise the controls of your bike. There is also a practical demonstration on how to give your bike a thorough clean to keep it looking good

The event will start at 9.45 am with tea, coffee,biscuits & an introduction. Demonstrations will commence at 10.00am, with the day finishing at around 1.00pm. In addition to presentations by our own members,  accident investigator James from Cambridgeshire Constabulary will give a talk on the forensic investigations which follow serious accidents

The ever-popular Meet the Examiner evening is back! For those working towards their Advanced Test this is opportunity to meet our IAM Examiner PC Simon Burgin and to ask questions about what he is expecting, and therefore priority will be given to Associates as places are limited. However, Simon’s talks are always insightful and entertaining, whether you’re a seasoned rider or a more recent one, and we’ll fit in as many full members as space allows

Autumn BBQ, 11th Sept

Footprints is part of Sawston Free Church, situated on the High Street with ample parking to the rear. If the weather cooperates we can enjoy the BBQ outside, but we have a function room at our disposal. There will be a choice of meats, a vegetarian alternative, salads & drinks

Coltishall i2i course: Terry’s blog

Many thanks to Terry Jacobs for his entertaining Condensed Coltishall blog, detailing his experience on an i2i Motorcycle Academy course recently. Terry was just one of eleven CambsIAM members who attended the course in June at the former RAF base in Coltishall, Norfolk. As in previous years, i2i ran the course exclusively for our members, with attendance subsidised by CambsIAM

Aldeburgh all-day ride, July 11th

Join Janet Pinion’s all-day ride to Aldeburgh on Sunday 11th July! A Suffolk native, Janet leads riders through lesser known villages to Aldeburgh for lunch at the seaside. Janet sketches out her plan below…

We’ll set out at 8:30am from the car park at Tesco, Ely. We’ll be heading east, largely keeping off the main roads and passing instead through picturesque Suffolk villages. After a short break at Coddenham Services we’ll rejoin the B1078 turning off at Tunstall, past Snape Maltings on to Aldeburgh
Hopefully we’ll have parked up in time to be first in the lunchtime queue which always forms at the fish’n’chip shop. After a fish’n’chip lunch overlooking the sea, it’s a short stroll to the ice-cream parlour where 34 mouth-watering flavours await…
We’ll head home via the A1120, stopping at Stonham Barns where those who still have an appetite can enjoy a cuppa and a cake. The ride will finish in Stretham in the late afternoon

The Motorcycle Charity Treasure Hunt devised by Janet Pinion took place on Sunday. Congratulations & thanks to Janet and all those who took part, raising £280 along the way for East Anglian Air Ambulance

Janet has penned an account of the day, listed all the clues (you’ll have to figure the locations out yourself), credited those who completed the entire hunt and detailed the involvement of a retired WSB champion in selecting a winner from the successful entries. Ride our Charity Treasure Hunt on Sunday 13th June! £10 entry fee per bike, all proceeds to East Anglian Air Ambulance. Dinner for two with wine at our 2021 Christmas meal for the prize winner

Ride solo, with a pillion, or in a small group. Clues emailed at Saturday 12th at 6:00pm. Solve the clues, plan your route… and submit location selfies by Sunday 13th at 9:00pm. If all locations are correctly identified the total mileage is likely to be under 200 miles, depending on the route devised

Treasure locations all lie within or close to Cambridgeshire county boundary, each with a motorcycle connection. Crack the clues by any means you can, and visit as many self as possible before the deadline. Good luck!
