All-day ride in the Norfolk & Suffolk countryside

9th June 2019 @ 8:45 am - 7:00 pm

This all-day ride will take us along interesting B-roads and country lanes of the Norfolk & Suffolk countryside, through some of the quaint, laid-back villages in the region

We will meet at 8:45am at the normal Sunday rideout meeting place at Tesco Milton. Please have your bike fully-fueled, ready to set off at 9:00am. We’ll head out in a NE direction, towards Mildenhall, and then on to Mundford, where we’ll make a stop at Brown’s Café for breakfast (full English, bacon/sausage sandwich, or just coffee/tea, among other options, as you please)

We’ll then set off towards the east, passing through Watton to Hingham, where we swing southeast through Attleborough, Pulham St. Mary, Harleston and Fressingfield before arriving at our lunch stop at the White Horse Inn near Badingham. Here we will be able to choose from either a traditional Sunday roast lunch, or any of the other pub favourites which include steak & ale pie, cottage pie, sausages & mash, liver & bacon, fish pie… as well as various curry dishes &grilled steaks (vegetarian options are also available). If you should still have room after that, desserts include cheesecake with ice cream, apple pie & custard, and various ice cream options

If we manage to get our (slightly heavier) selves back on our bikes we’ll head south towards Wickham Market, then west through Otley Bottom, Lime Kilns (we’ll make a quick pit stop just after Lime Kilns – about 120 miles into the ride – for those needing to refuel), and Monks Eleigh before arriving at Lavenham. As energy levels may be running low, we’ll make a stop here for an ice cream and/or coffee/tea to replenish them

For the final leg of our trip, we’ll head towards Acton, Great Yeldham, then over towards Finchingfield, before turning north through Cornish Hall End, Steeple Bumpstead, Dullingham and finally back to where we came from – Tesco Milton – where the outing will end

We’ll have covered almost 200 miles by the time we get back, with an estimated road time of 6 hours in total. Depending on how many courses we each decide to have for lunch, we should be back in Cambridge by 7:00pm at the latest, having had our fill of remarkable roads, stunning scenery and great grub

This ride is for full members only, and the number of places is limited. Pillions are welcome. If you’re interested in reserving a place please contact Keith Tremeer (keithtremeer@btinternet.com) no later than 5th June
