Annual General Meeting 30th May 2018

Our AGM is being held at the Lord Byron pub in Trumpington on Wednesday 30th May.

All Full and Associate members are encouraged to come along to see how the club is doing and what our plans are for the future. This is very much a social event and a great chance to catch up with fellow members.

The meeting commences at 7:30pm but the pub is open from midday for those wanting to get there earlier to indulge in the menu!

Hope to see you there….

First Ladies Ride of 2018

Our first Ladies Ride of the year took place on Sunday 22nd April

We left Tesco’s Milton just after 10:00am in bright warm sunshine. After a long, wet  & cold winter it was nice to leave the heated jackets still on their hangers and have the heated grips switched to off

Five of us in total – Jacqui Evans, Jo Denson, Georgina Norris, Megan Ellis tailing and myself (Janet Pinion) – set off. I led, making the route up as we went along: Catherine Ryan had organised the first ride of the year but was unable to lead at the last minute

We headed out towards Newmarket, through some of the villages on its outskirts and onto the A143. We took a left turn just before Bury St Edmunds to pick up the B1106, stopping at The Courtyard at Elveden for lunch. From there we carried on to Brandon, Stoke Ferry, Southery and Littleport, finally stopping at Ely to say our farewells. Almost 100 miles were covered in total

If there are any woman out there wanting to ride out without their husbands or partners this is a welcoming group to get your confidence with

Keep an eye on the Events Page for our next outing!

The late Steve Bradshaw

Thanks to those who attended funeral

Teresa would like to thank all who took part in the cortège on bikes for Steve’s funeral –

Martin Pinion
Graham Pryke
Matt Howes
Peter Burge
Brian Farrow
Chris Curryer
Julie D’Alessandro
Megan Ellis
And myself, Janet Pinion

Not to forget Graham Scott tailing in his car as his bike is poorly !

I must say how professional it looked in my mirror seeing the neat staggered formation of bikes behind me from Newport to Cam Valley Crematorium. Teresa told me she was quite moved to see all the bikes behind the hearse when we arrived at the house

The packed crematorium was bursting at the seams on this sunny sad day, and happy memories of Steve were shared at the ceremony

It was Steve’s wish to donate his organs. As a result of this selfless gesture, he has changed the lives of at least 4 people and their families

Thank You

The late Steve Bradshaw

Funeral of Steve Bradshaw (updated)

Steve Bradshaw’s funeral will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday 25th April at the Cam Valley Crematorium, Chesterford

Those who wish to join the funeral cortège are asked to gather at the front of the Coach & Horses, Newport by 09:45am

Teresa has asked for bikes to follow the hearse into Newport, to their house, so we must be ready to pull away from the pub car park when the hearse arrives at 10:00am. From the house the family will walk behind the hearse to the main road, where they will all get on a bus (driven by Dave Bradshaw). The bus will follow the hearse, with bikers following the bus to the crematorium. If you miss the procession into Newport, you can join the outward journey to the crematorium

All are welcome to return to the Coach & Horses after the service

Family flowers only. Donations to East Anglian Air Ambulance

Let’s have a good turnout and give Steve the last journey he deserves. Any queries, please contact Janet ( supergran4@icloud.com or 07952 149122)

Steve Bradshaw

The late Steve Bradshaw, Senior Observer and Committee Chairman

All those who knew him will be saddened to hear of the sudden death of Steve Bradshaw.  He was always larger than life and played a very positive, enthusiastic role in all activities organised by the Group for many years.  Steve was a senior observer for the Group, Chairman of the Committee and a regular Sunday ride leader, not to mention hosting the Skills Day for several years at his place of work in Royston.  He also ran a variety of training evenings from this venue for members and associates, and undertook a wide range of other commitments within the Group.  Our deepest sympathy goes to Teresa and the family.
