This all-day ride on Sunday 11th October, organised and led by Keith Tremeer, will explore the B-roads & country lanes of the Norfolk & Suffolk countryside. The route passes through quaint, laid-back East Anglian villages – with great food along the way

Keith gives an outline of the day, with a link just below so you can reserve a place…

We will meet at 8:45am in the carpark at Tesco Milton. Please have your bike fully-fueled, ready to set off at 9:00am

After a 1¼hr ride our first stop will be near Downham Market, for breakfast at the Gardeners Rest Coffee Shop. It’s then eastwards towards Swaffham, before we swing southeast through Watton, Old Buckenham, Harleston & Fressingfield. Just under 2 hours more biking after breakfast and we should arrive at our scheduled lunch stop: the White Horse Inn near Badingham. Show your style here with a traditional Sunday roast lunch, or choose from pub favourites such as steak & kidney pudding or fish & chips – there are also options for vegetarians. Those who still have room can choose from dessert options such as Mars bar cheesecake & ice cream, Eton mess or sticky toffee pudding – or consult the ice cream menu

With our weightier selves back on the bikes, we’ll initially head south through Framlingham (refueling pit stop after ~115 miles) & Wickham Market, then west through Otley Bottom & Monks Eleigh, before arriving in Lavenham about 1¼hr after lunch. Our energy levels may be low, so we’ll stop here for an ice cream and/or drink to replenish them

For the final 1¾hr leg of our trip we’ll first head south-west, through Acton & Great Yeldham and on to Finchingfield. We’ll then turn north, through Steeple Bumpstead & Burrough Green, before finally turning south towards Linton and the Fourwentways Service Station, just off the A11, where the outing will end

We’ll cover ~200 miles during the day, with a total on-the-road time of about six hours. Depending on the number of lunch courses we opt for, we should be back in Cambridge before dark, having had our fill of remarkable roads, stunning scenery and great grub

This ride is for full members only. In line with Covid restrictions only six places are available on this outing, and with one rider dropping out there is
