September 6th – three rideouts

Update: all places have now been allocated on these rides
Elveden Courtyard currently only accepts card payment

Tesco Milton
Keith Tremeer leads, Catherine Ryan tails
Only 20 minutes on the A14, but instead we’ll travel the back roads south & east of Newmarket through Balsham, Lidgate & Moulton, taking about 1½ hr to reach Simpsons Garden Centre for our 11:00am breakfast reservation. Our 1¼ hr return trip will take us through Stretham, Earith & Huntingdon to Cambridge Services on the A14 – about 90 miles in total

Tesco Ely
Janet Pinion leads, Patrick Ryan tails
From Tesco Ely, we’ll head south & east through Soham, Kentford & Wickhambrook. After stints on the A143 & B1106 we’ll arrive at Elveden Courtyard, where a table for 6 awaits us. The return journey will pass through Brandon, Southery & Prickwillow to its end point in Stretham 94 miles later

Tesco Royston
Mark Pawson leads, Chris Curryer tails
Mark will head east towards Thaxted before looping back to Baldock for a break at one of two cafes (outside seating available). It’s then first west, then up to the hangers at Cardington, before heading east back towards Cambridge. This is a deliberately varied route including demanding twisties, fast A-roads and single-track byways. Route length is circa 95 miles

All three rides depart at 9:30am. Please arrive fully-fueled, at least ten minutes in advance for the briefing. Details of departure points here

All-day ride to Kent, September 13th

Barry D will lead this longer all-day ride, which is open to full members only. This is the new & improved route which worked well when tested last year, so Barry plans to run the same program this time around

August 16th – two rideouts

Update: both these rideouts are now fully subscribed

Tesco Milton
Patrick Ryan leads, Paul Ylioja tails. This ride heads into Norfolk, with a rustic breakfast stop on a farm near Carbrooke. Our hostess Clare will be offering a BBQ-cooked bacon sandwich and tea or coffee (sorry, no other options available) for £5 per person. Riders will be asked to pay the ride leader directly in advance to secure their place and guarantee breakfast. The ride will end at Stow-cum-Quy at around 1:30pm, having covered just under 100 miles

Shell Services Fourwentways
Keith Tremeer leads, Keith Bartlett tails. At 85 miles long this ride will last just under 3 hours. Allow more time for the breakfast stop at Thremhall Park Coffee Shop, Bishops Stortford – where you can buy a take-away bacon, sausage or fried egg sandwich and a coffee or tea. There is a large grass area in front with some seating available, so we’ll have no problem social distancing. “But wait, didn’t Keith take us there last time?” That’s correct – but it’ll be an entirely different route this time!
